SERVPRO's Disaster Recovery Team Supports Residents in Louisiana with Storm Damage
On the 16th anniversary of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Hurricane Ida struck Louisiana and tied for the strongest hurricane to hit the area. SERVPRO of Marquette Park saw the need for their services in the area to help with the cleanup and went into action with their Disaster Recovery Team, an elite group of SERVPRO franchises that support communities in need all over the United States.
Our team, headed by Anthony Zubricki, a franchise co-owner, arrived in the area the day before Hurricane Ida impacted the area. The Heroes in Green brought along a 53-foot trailer stocked with water damage restoration services equipment. VP David Mason, left on Monday, the day after Ida affected the area with a second 53-foot trailer with more equipment. A third franchise owner, the original, Frank Zubricki, will arrive this week with additional support for the flood damage cleanup efforts that are expected to last approximately two weeks.
The hurricane took out the main electricity station, and all of New Orleans was without power. SERVPRO brought generators to power their equipment, so there are no delays in the restoration services to benefit the affected community. The team also brought along an RV to serve as a place for taking breaks, sleeping, and for use as a central control center.
